Hal Reichardt was born in Brooklyn, New York, and grew up in Glen Cove,on the North Shore of Long Island. He spent a lot of time caddying at Piping Rock Club when he was young (sigh).

Hal graduated from the SUNY at Stony Brook with a degree in English in 1977 and moved to the west coast. He now lives in Beaverton, Oregon, where he shares a home with his wife Shannon, daughter Lindsay, son Conor, and an ever-expanding menagerie of pets.

The photo from France is just to prove that the authorities did let Hal out of the country at least one time. Plus, he likes the beret and never gets to wear it due to some unforseen regulations around his house.
